He is survived by: his parent Emma Boyles Merchant; his spouse Eva Mae Lins; his daughter Robin Merchant Hawthorne; his granddaughter Emily Lynn Hawthorne of Chestertown; his siblings, Rosine Handsberry of Dover, Betty Richardson of Smyrna, Larry Merchant of Clayton, DE and Dale Merchant of Chestertown; his uncle Elwood Merchant of Rock Hall; and also Charlotte of Rock Hall.
