He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry J. Potts and Genevieve Boulter Potts; and his nephew Marshall Hill. He is survived by: his brother James Galen Potts (Eleanor) of Crumpton, MD; his daughter Pamela Potts Mitchell of Worton, MD; his significant other Stella Parker-Phillips; and his grandchildren, Nichole Mitchell of Worton, MD and Dylan Mitchell of Kentmore Park, MD..
