" - Mary Fornshell View Sign Helen Golden Collins On September 5, 2018, of Chevy Chase, MD, age 98, beloved mother of Patrick (Harriet), Carolyn (John Hyland), Kevin (Margaret Samuels), Anne, Stephen (Carin) grandmother to JP, Emily, Rory, Paul, Sarah, Jena, Lundy, PJ, Lucy, Allen, Matthew, Brendan and Georgia. Great-grandmother to Henry, Fiora, Killian and Charlotte. Francis, her beloved husband of 69 years died in 2012. Helen excelled at sports, including tennis, golf, swimming and softball, usually at Sherwood Forest, MD, a place she loved. After college, she worked as a staffer on Capital Hill and later as a librarian at Stone Ridge School. Helen was an integral part of the Notre Dame-DC Basketball Connection, encouraging the elite DC players to join the Irish. Friends may call at 10 a.m., Blessed Sacrament Church in DC, followed by Mass at 11. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, Washington, DC.
