He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Leiper Rice and Eva Mable Rice (Mallow); his wife Leona Rice; and his siblings, Evelyn Martz, Elsie Hymes and Kenneth Rice.

He is survived by : his children, David Rice (Georganna), Thomas Rice (Diane) and Glenda Iliff (Richard Jr.); his brothers, Carl Rice, Willis Rice (Carolyn), Earl Rice (Irene) and Allen Rice (Deena); his grandchildren, Rhonda Shilling, Brian Glotfelty, Dan Rice and Heather Eck; and his great grandchildren, Jacqueline Shilling, Lukas Glotfelty and Hudson Eck. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
