Eleanor Szapiel Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Eleanor Szapiel of Damascus, Maryland, born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, who passed away on September 27, 2021, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Peter Easitis and Mary Kabasinskas; and her brothers, Willie and Albert Easitis. She is survived by: her husband Stanley; her children, Mary Ellen Whittington (Marquis) of San Antonio, TX, Susan Valeria Szapiel, MD of Scotch Plains, NJ, Cecilia Marie Williams (Bruce) of Damascus, MD and Stanley Vincent Szapiel, Jr. (Morgen) of Gulf Shores, AL; her grandchildren, Sara Camm-Turietta, Seth Camm, Alexander Whittington, Maggie Mangrum, Nichole Williams, Alec Szapiel and Sam Szapiel; and her great grandchildren, Grant Soloway, Noland Soloway, Jacob Turietta, Liam Whittington, Beau Whittington and Georgia Mangrum.
All are welcome, and those attending will be required to wear a mask or adequate face covering.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor Szapiel's memory to her church, St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, 9250 Damascus Road, Damascus, MD 20872.
