She was predeceased by : her parents, Carl Jackson and Alvina Diskau Jackson; her former life partner Walter R. Burton, Jr.; her husband Edward Yates Thompson; and her siblings, Dorthea Dukes, Lucille Brittingham, Leonard Jackson and Edward C. Jackson.

She is survived by : her daughter Linda Aaron; her nieces and nephews, Nancy Jackson, Albert Jackson, Charles Jackson (Betsy), Anna Wingate, Ed Drake (Janice), Donna Phillips (Al) and Debra Kelly (Terry); her son-in-law Billy Aaron; and also, Jax and Penny Fitzhugh.
