In loving memory of Hector Castro Asuncion (Derwood, Maryland), who departed this world on July 23, 2025 at the age of 88. Hector Castro leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He is survived by: his wife Dr. Odita Asuncion; his children, Anthony, John Christopher, Marie Gerritz, Mark Edward Asuncion, Kyla Harrison and Romel Yatco; and his siblings, Thelma and Arthur.

Viewing will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Devol Funeral Home (10 E Deer Park Dr, Gaithersburg, MD 20877). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (6701 Muncaster Mill Rd, Derwood, MD 20855).

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to American Heart Association, https://www.heart.org or St. Jude's, https://www.stjude.org.

“Dr. Asuncion was my family doctor since he was in Poolesville & when he moved to Germantown, I followed him there. He loved it when I spoke to him in Spanish & he would answer me. back in Spanish. I told him we needed to practice more & he would laugh. I will miss him dearly.”
