He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Francis and Lula McKenzie (Robeson); his siblings, Gilbert, Austin "Tip", Leonard McKenzie, Cecelia Dugan and Ann Fowler; and his granddaughter Ronda Kay McKenzie.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ann McKenzie (Wilson); his children, Edward McKenzie (Patricia) of Killeen, TX, Rickey D. McKenzie (Frostburg, MD) and Christina Puffinburger (Kerry) of LaVale, MD; and his sister Mary Emma Warnick. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
