He was predeceased by: his sister Shirley Chaney Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Ruby Chaney of Huntingtown, Maryland; his daughter Kathryn Chaney of Leonardtown; and his sister Linda Chaney Parong of LaPlata. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
