He was predeceased by: his sisters, Joyce Parsons and Chris Lehfeld; his siblings-in-law, Janice Stewart, Kay Breckenridge, Charles Lehfeld, Russ Parsons, Roger Stewart and Mark VanderPloeg; and his nephew Inde Elgersma.
He is survived by: his spouse Janet Breckenridge; his children, Randy, Rusty and Denise Emal (Randy); his granddaughters, LeeAnn Huff (Josh) and Leslie Mecham (Cody); his great grandchildren, Hank Huff, Clay Mecham, Duke Huff and Jolee Huff; his sisters, Carmen Gill (Bill), Kellogg VanderPloeg and Carol VanderPloeg; and also, Knoxville, Randy Ebert (Sheryl), Des Moines, Rusty Ebert (Melody) and Keosauqua.
