He was predeceased by: his parents, William C. Tharpe and Virginia B. Tharpe; his wife Helen O'Donnell Tharpe; and his siblings, Joanne Fairall and William C. Tharpe, Jr..
He is survived by: his siblings, Virginia Tharpe (Kenneth Ehrlich) and Gary Tharpe (Lisa); his fiancée Julie Smith; his nieces and nephews, Kenneth, John Fairall, Sara Ehrlich Roberts, Jessica, Cody and Luke Tharpe; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Justin, Rebecca, Diana Fairall and Landon Roberts. He is also survived by his siblings, cousins and his beloved nieces and nephews.
