He was also cherished by niece (Rita Griffin Dietz), nephews (Kinney Smith, Ralph Griffin, Robert Griffin, Alim Abdul Jabbar, and Gregory Smith), step-grandchildren (Lawrence J. Prograis III, Shannon S. Prograis, Anthony Paul Prograis) and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews.
