Wills; his uncle Curtis Jackson (Ellen); his godparents, Thomas Smallwood (Brenda), John Smallwood, Roger Smallwood (Fontella) and Michael Smallwood; his great-uncles and great-aunts, Joan Bransome, Yvette Jones, Marie Young, Geraldine Swann, Isadore Datcher, Bertha Datcher, Adelaide Datcher, Cythia Jones, James Ward Winston (Develia) and James E. Thomas (Ruby); his godmothers, Patricia Hills, Patrice Jackson and Lakisha Andrews; and his godchildren, Zamari, Alaysia and Adrian Norwood.

He is survived by : his aunt Ellen.

Gerveld worked many jobs, namely the Accokeek Foundation, Waste Water Treatment Plant, Environmental Service, Pessoa Construction Company, and Dulles International Airport.
