He was predeceased by: his parents, Haywood Johnson and Nannie Coles Johnson; his son Gary Johnson; and his brothers, Neshiel and Delbert Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine Wells Johnson; his children, Pamela Johnson, Jimmy (Tammy), Lonnie Johnson (Carolyn) and Tony Wells (Sabrina); his adoptive sons, Jonathan Wells and Clifton Johnson (Kim); his siblings, Hattie Witcher, Gracie Peyton, Jackie Anderson, Billie of Washington, Mary Berger, Roxann Johnson, Rosa Witcher, Frank, Clevester Ray (Florence), James "Ed" (Shirlene) and Calvin Johnson; and his siblings-in-law, Paulette Thomas (Jimmy), Joan, Mary Wells, Sheila, Alice Thomas (Vincent), Francis Peyton, Joe (June) and James Wells (Alfreda). He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
