He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Frederic F. Chesley and Nelle Thornton Offutt; his grandparents, Charles Elwood Offutt, Nanienne Norton Thomasson, Willoughby Sprigg Chesley and Marie Louise Holtzman; his nephew Donald H. Thomas, IV; his great-nephews, Donald J. Thomas and Gerald Thomas; his cousin Helene Chesley Purdy; and his sister Nanienne Chesley Thomas.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Garrett County Historical Society.
