He is survived by : his wife Linda Waggoner of Parsonsburg; his children, Mary Page Gwaltney of Roanoke, Whitley Greene of Atlanta, Anne Beale Yancey (Robert) of Dublin and William Greene, Jr.; his wife Sylvia of Colfax; his stepdaughter Cynthia Vigdor (Robert) of Parsonsburg; his grandchildren, Katherine Gwaltney, William Gwaltney (Jessica), Ellen Yancey White (William), Alexander Yancey, Mary Elizabeth Greene, James Greene, Cody Greene, Michael Vigdor, Thomas Vigdor and Christopher Vigdor; his great grandchild Caroline Gwaltney; his sister Ann Hodges; his sister-in-law Margaret Greene; and also, Darden Greene of Cross Lanes, Robert Greene of Los Angeles and Camp Council.
