Ella Boone Obituary
Better known to many as "Kitten," was the daughter of Bessie Brown and Arthur Briscoe. She was born on June 2, 1929, in Charles County. On December 31, 2022, Ella answered the call of God and entered into eternal rest.
Ella graduated from Magothy Elementary School from the seventh grade with honors. She was promoted twice in one year. Her test score was the highest in Maryland and she was asked to speak at Wiley H. Bates High School to represent the class of 1945. Ella received her bachelor's degree in Ushering from the School of Ushering in 1999. Ella worked at Fort George Meade, Hutzler's Department Store and as domesticated worker on Gibson Island.
On April 26, 1954, she married Carroll Joseph Boone Sr. who preceded her in death. Through this union, the Lord blessed them with five children, Brenda, Jackie, Junior, Connie and Niles.
Ella has been a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church (UMC) most of her life. As a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord, Ella has served for 60 plus years at Mt. Zion UMC. She served as President for many years and is currently an honorary member of Mount Zion Usher Board. She has served as 1st Vice President of the Anne Arundel County Ushers Unit, Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor of Junior and Young People Supervisor of the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association (ICUA), Assistant Chaplain of Public Relations, Alumni Department Member of the National United Church Ushers Association of America (NUCUAA), Flower Circle Secretary, United Methodist Women member, Building Committee member, Past President of Bible Study, Past President of President Council Anne Arundel County Ushers, and one of the first organizers to form the Junior Ushers of Mt. Zion Magothy. She was a Silver Life member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Anne Arundel County Branch.
Ella enjoyed reading her Bible, traveling with the ushers and family cookouts. She traveled across the United States to various ICUA Conventions with Rosalind Moore, Genevieve Hale, Aliceteen Wade, Helen Jones and many other ushers. Anyone that knew Ella knew she loves to eat, and her favorite food was fried chicken. Whenever her children came home, she always asked "What's in the brown bag to eat?". She spent countless hours laughing and talking on the phone to her longtime friend, Lorraine Hall.
Her family has been a precious jewel to her, and she raised them to be close and to love one another. She set an exceptional example of how to share love to her children and extended family. She was an excellent role model for patience and wisdom.
Ella will meet her youngest son, Niles Boone, Sr., who preceded her in death in the heavenly realms.
Surrounded by the love of her family until her departure to her Heavenly home, Ella leaves to carry on her legacy three loving daughters, Brenda Smith (Terry), Jacqueline Boone Allsup, and Connie Eldridge (Cedric); one son, Carroll A.
