He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnett Dayton Herndon and Emma Josephine Herndon; his wife Judith Ann Herndon; and his brothers, Chuck and Wayne Herndon.
He is survived by: his children, Kim R. Hammonds (Rodney), David L. Peterson (Nicole) and William A. Herndon Jr. (Raechelle); his grandchildren, Rebecca, Carrie, Julia, James, Aron, Nate, Tristen, Shawn, Mikela, Larrisa, Jonathan, Gabriel, Isaiah and Brook (Tristen); and his great grandchildren, Emma and Winter.
