She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Hinton and Mary Hinton; her husband James T. Burtis, Sr.; and her sisters, Naomi White and Diane Hendrick.

She is survived by: her son James Burtis (Ruth) of Riva; her sisters, Mary Hinton of Alexandria, VA, Kathryn Woodfield of Stevensville, MD and Janet Chance (Bill) of Annapolis; and her grandson James Taylor Burtis, III.
