He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Courtland, Emma Melvin, Louis and Pearl Boyd. He is survived by: his parents, Allen Boyd and Cindy Boyd of Greensboro; his daughter Mary Ellen Boyd; the mother of his child Ellen; his sister Marsha Saathoff (John); and his sibling's children, Julie MacDonald (Anthony) and Allan Saathoff. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins.
