He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mary and Donald R. Hobbs Sr.; his siblings, Shirley Hobbs Martin (Don), Donald R. Hobbs Jr. (Ruth), Thomas Hobbs (Kimberly), Charlotte Kirk (Buster) and Steve Hobbs (Joan); his wife Cathy Sheriff Hobbs; his children, David Allen Hobbs Jr. (Susan) and Mary Beth Kingsley (Frank); and his grandchildren, Lucas Kingsley, Wesley Hobbs, Benjamin Hobbs and Hope Kingsley. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 295, Sandy Spring, MD 20860, for the restoration of a 1949 Mack Fire Truck called 'Pearl' previously owned by the department.
