He was predeceased by: his former wife Anna DiGiacomo; and his brother Philip Eckels. He is survived by: his wife Veronica "Pat" Eckels of Severna Park; his sons, David Eckels (Kristin) of Arnold, Michael Eckels (Christine) of Ridgewood, NJ, Robert Eckels of Baltimore and Ronald Eckels (Colleen) of Highlands Ranch, CO; and his grandchildren, Grace, Luke, Clare, Anna, Emily, Christopher, Ethan, Jacob, Ryan and Xavier.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122 and St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146.
