She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Marianna Randall and Jack Randall; her daughters, Rachael Elizabeth Semmes and Courtney Randall Semmes; her husband Raphael Semmes; her sister Diane Dorsey; and her daughters, Jennifer Herd, Marianna Ollice and Noelle Semmes. She was also cherished by her 19 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations, in the name of Virginia Semmes, to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
