She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Sidney Whittier and Margaret Rachel Whittier (Bowen); her husband Charles Kirby Barnes; and her siblings, Rita Merrill, Francis, James and Philip Whittier.
She is survived by: her children, Larry Barnes (Terry) of Randolph, ME, Charles Barnes (Laurie) of Winthrop, ME, Kenneth Barnes (Lise) of Augusta, ME, Jeffrey Barnes (Rhonda) of Cumberland, ME and Sharon Tranten (Donald) of Kingfield, ME; and her siblings, Reggie, Frederick Whittier, Madeline Belisle, Pearl LeBeau and Shirley McKelvey. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
