He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Matthews and Jessie Matthews (Rodman); and his siblings, Ronny Matthews, Alice Jack, Warren Jack, Arlene Jack and Harold Jack.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Matthews; his daughter Karen Haapala; his grandchildren, Vicki Haapala, Dustin Haapala and Rachel Haapala; his great grandchildren, Blair Haapala and Jake Haapala; and his siblings, Richard Matthews, Roberta Matthews, Robert Matthews, Jessie Matthews and Earl Jack. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
