He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edna Crandall and Ilko Knowles; his wife Elizabeth Whitney; and his children, Donald R. C. Knowles (Marlene) of Eustis, Deborah E. Mason of Gray and David A. Knowles (Nancy) of Gardiner. He was also cherished by five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
