He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Leighton and Mildred Gates (Sawtelle); his wife Linda Joyce Leighton (Dennison); his daughter Marietta Leighton; and his siblings, Marguerite Greenwood, Josephine Tedford and John Leighton.
He is survived by: his sons, Dean Leighton of Newark, DE and Dale Leighton of Lubec, ME.; his grandchildren, Dean Leighton, Patrick Leighton of Lubec, ME and Ashley Graber of Newark, DE.; his great grandchildren, Declan Graber of Newark, DE, Dean Leighton III of Crofton, MD, Kate Leighton of Brewer, ME and Addy Graber of Newark, DE.; and his siblings, Anna Merriman of Westbrook, ME and Reggie Sawtelle of Lubec, ME..
