Joshua David Gatto Obituary
Josh, 45, of Portland, ME, died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 19, 2023. To know Josh was to truly love Josh. Growing up in Braintree, MA, Josh was known and loved by all with his big heart, contagious smile, quick wit, and great sense of humor. His enthusiasm for life followed him into adulthood. He moved to Maine where he met his girlfriend Eryn and finally completed his life long dream of establishing a successful contracting company called G&G Remodeling, along with his close friend Cory Gys. The two made it their mission to provide work opportunities to individuals in recovery. He convinced his father, a talented carpenter, to come to Maine to work right by his side. Josh also adored quality time with his mom, whether it was daily texts and phone calls or visits, he was blessed to have her.
It seemed however, wherever life had taken him he just knew everyone - Josh was truly a legend. For Josh being the father to Joshua was his greatest joy. He took pride in sharing his love for music, fishing, and sports with Joshua. They loved to go fishing and to concerts, especially Dirty Heads. You could find them at the Bruins or Patriots games on many occasions. Nothing brought Josh more happiness and fulfillment then watching his son Joshua play sports and practicing with him.
Josh loved with all his heart and helped so many people. Even though he struggled, he fought super hard for the life he knew he deserved. He had a laundry list of friends. Miracles he would call them, if you walked a similar path and came out the other side. He was always rooting for the underdog. Josh cherished all of his friendships but he found a special bond with Jamie Fitzgerald and Dray Trigler, who he considered his brothers. He valued and loved them and treasured their relationship. It was this drive and dedication for those he cherished that kept Josh going for so long. Josh will be forever remembered, cherished and loved by everyone that had the honor of knowing him. Our broken hearts will forever feel the loss and emptiness of his absence. Josh is probably smoking a cigar listening to his favorite music and watching over all those he loved and left behind. Rest easy Josh.
He is survived by his son Joshua and Joshua's family Melissa Schneiderhan, Abby Schneiderhan, and Tommy Christopher of Hull; his longtime girlfriend Eryn Murphy and her family of Concord, New Hampshire; his mother Arleene Gatto and her life long partner Stephen Miller of Randolph; his father David Gatto of Portland, Maine, and his late stepmother Linda Gatto; his brother Josias Gatto and Karyn Gatto and their children Cody and Dax of Holbrook; his sister Jessica Janusz and Winston Janusz and their children Jonah, Connor, and Sage of Rochester, Minnesota. Josh leaves behind many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
