He was predeceased by : his parents, Leonard Gilbert and Edna Gilbert. He is survived by : his children, Carol Anne McElgunn, Francis "Pat", Mary Catherine and Anne Marie; and his brother Ronald J. Gilbert. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
