He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Sommers and Bette Sommers; his siblings, Jean Murray and William Marco; and his sister-in-law Kathleen 'Tish Sommers.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia Sommers (Fitzgerald); his son Richard Donn Sommers; and his siblings, Bruce and Cynthia (Harold Hoak) of Lancaster. He is also survived by niece, and several nephews.
