He was predeceased by: his mother Virginia McCreery; and his grandmother Sarah McCreery. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his sons, James Alan (Alison), Robert Vance (Jessica) and Richard Paul; his grandchildren, James Churchill, Winthrop Hallowell, Henry Eustis, Jonah Ever, Dalia Nomi, Theodore Zev and Marisol Estrada; his brother Vance Flaggert; and his friends, Peter Titta and Jim.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ada Congregational Church or Spectrum Health Hospice.
