She was predeceased by: her parents, Stanley Michalak and Gertrude Michalak of Allendale; her husband Bill Herrick; her parents-in-law, Howard and Johanna Herrick; her grandson Brandon Schmidt; her siblings, Lois Michalak, Stanley Michalak, Shirley Havens, Donna Deering and Timmy Michalak; her siblings-in-law, Betty Jo Michalak, Howard Herrick and David Balke; and her siblings' children, Trudy Marlette, Sheryl Raye Hesser, Missy Michalak, Randy Modderman, Danny Wydeck and Benjamin Janes.
She is survived by: her son Billy Herrick (Ann); her grandchildren, Amber Schmidt (J. J.), Dustin Herrick, Brittany Brown (Rick), Whittney Herrick, Danielle Van Wyck (Brandon), Aaron Neese (Samantha) and Riley Neese-Lamar; her daughter Tammy Hamlin; her grandchildren, Angelina, Luke, Shyanne, Zack and Autumn; her daughter Marcey Tejeda; her grandsons, Andrew Ottenwess (Amanda), Domenic and Damian Tejeda; her daughter Julie VanderHart (Curt); her grandchildren, Bryce, Joslyn, Brendan, Cory Jennings (Tiffany) and Jerome Jennings (Rose); her siblings, Davey Michalak, Lynda Modderman (Roger), Stevie Michalak (Deanna), Kathy Smith (Bob), Suzy Balke, Joey Michalak (Sue), Debi Wagner and Julie VanderWall; her siblings-in-law, Maurice Herrick (Deb) and Sue Herrick; her friends, Paul VanderPloeg and Patrick Spear; John Herrick (Laural). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Mary Free Bed Foundation or The Amazing Reading Bus in honor of the teachers at Allendale Public Schools who called her Grandma Karen.
