He was predeceased by: his parents, Alonzo "Lonnie" Chatman Sr. and Mary E. "Betty" Chatman (June L. Chatman); his parents-in-law, James "Bubbles" and Evelyn Atkinson; his brother David Atkinson (Anieta); and his brother-in-law Ronald Williams.
He is survived by: his wife June L. Atkinson; his children, Domonique Roshell and Alonzo James III; his daughter-in-law Joy (Jeremyah Ahmiel); his siblings, Glenn Ernest "Ernie" and Gina Lynn (Jeff Dumas) of Cincinnati, OH; his grandsons, Romello Rashad Thompson, Faheem Symir Hines, Alonzo IV, Yahiem, Kemar and Yahrell Chatman; and his sisters-in-law, Jennifer "Renee" Williams, Joyce "Toby" (Larry Gill) of Chicago, IL and Janet (Maurice Williams) of Chicago, IL.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at 2590 Capital Ave SW, Battle Creek, MI 49015.
