She was predeceased by: her parents, Cecile T. Hayes (Degre) and Nelson O. Hayes; her husband George Newman; her brother Cecil Hayes; and her daughter Barbara.
She is survived by: her son Joseph Newman (Patty); her son-in-law Terry Newton; and her daughters, Bonnie Downey (Norman) and Teresa Reed (Phillip). She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers Betty has asked that donations be made to the Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools.
