He was predeceased by: his children, Catherine Mary, Cynthia Steinburg and David Gilbert; his grandson James Levi; and his siblings, Eva Clugston, George Gilbert and Robert Gilbert.
He is survived by: his parents, George H. and Evelyn J. Gilbert (Strauss); his children, Patrick Gilbert, Susan Miller (Kevin), Tracy Gilbert and Teresa Gilbert; and his sister Diane Gilbert.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the VFW National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids, MI.
