He was predeceased by : his parents, Reino Salonen and Tyyne Salonen (Niemi); his wives, Grace Olson and Victoria Strand; his daughter Darcey McGowan; his granddaughter Grace Jean McGowan; and his siblings, John, Richard Salonen, Margaret Johnson and Hazel Rouker.
He is survived by : his granddaughter Christine Fresonke (Robert) of Bessemer; his great grandchildren, Grace and Sophia; his stepchildren, Ted Strand (Lauri) of Sacramento, Karen Strand of Cambridge and Marjorie Houtari-Strand of Spencer, Wisconsin; his sister Dorothy Pakonen of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and his son-in-law Doyle McGowan. He is also survived by many other step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
