He was predeceased by: his parents, Angus LaPonsie and Stella LaPonsie (Forgrave); his daughter Faith LaPonsie; and his siblings, Lois, Edith, Vern and Russ.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Marcia Corrigan; his children, Grace Dillon (Tracy), Hope Winterhalter (Steven), Daniel LaPonsie (Beth), Joy Montei (John), Philip LaPonsie and Aaron LaPonsie (Brandy); and his sister-in-law Margaret LaPonsie. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Cass City or Compassus of Cass City.
