With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Catherine Ann Ohtonen of Chassell, Michigan, born in Hancock, Michigan, who passed away on June 7, 2023 at the age of 78. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Catherine Ann Ohtonen to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Richard Hongisto and Martha Hongisto (Ylitalo); her son Charles Ohtonen; her siblings, Daniel Hongisto, David Hongisto and June Lawrence; her nephew Kevin Kangas; her niece Marlene Beaudoin; and her parents-in-law, Henry and Fern Ohtonen.

She is survived by : her daughter Cathy; her husband Henry Ohtonen of Chassell; her children, Thomas Ohtonen (Cheryl Ruohonen) of Chassell, Deborah Sheldon (James) of Skanee and Sandra Kemppainen (Dan) of Hancock; her daughter-in-law Suzanne Ohtonen of Negaunee; her great grandchildren, Jessica Haapala (Micah), Caden, Brooke and Bryce; her grandchildren, Shannon Ohtonen, Blake, Shaylynn, Peyton, Cassandra Ross (Jason), Riley, Grayson, Tara Lassila (Derrick Butkovich), Tyler Lassila, Charles Kemppainen, Joshua Kemppainen and Mitchell Kemppainen (Madison); her siblings, Delores Kangas (Chris) of Hancock, Gail Beaudoin (Lawrence) of Lake Linden, Robert Hongisto (Vanessa) of Tucson, AZ and George Hongisto (Joy) of New Castle, CA; and her sisters-in-law, Ruth Hester of Redmond, WA, Elizabeth Bahti (Tom) of Sobieski, WI and Marilyn Cunningham (Mike) of Alexandria, MN. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell in Catherine's name.
