He was predeceased by : his parents, Abel Jerome Gomes and Lucile M. Calhou; his brother Allan Gomes; and his stepdaughter Marna Caldwell Fruth. He is survived by : his wife Nancy Harker-Caldwell of Colon; his sons, Anthony Gomes (Diane Schaeffer) of Simi Valley and Timothy Gomes (Marie Soria) of Stevenson Ranch; his grandchildren, Ian Gomes, Anna Gomes, Daniel Schaeffer, Kasey Kunert, Sarah Carr and Grace Caldwell; his great grandchild Calvin Carr; his stepchildren, Pam and Dean Caldwell; his siblings-in-law, Linda Reed and Terry Karker; his cousins, Rosemary Miranda and Charlotte White; and also Second (Patricia Shay).

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the St. Joseph County Humane Society.
