He was predeceased by: his parents, William James and Bertha Ann Linton (Morley); his siblings, William James Linton Jr. (Carol Joanne) and Vada Rosecrans-Yarbrough; and his brothers-in-law, Howard Medlyn and Howard Rosecrans.

He is survived by: his significant other Bethany Wieland; his sons, Richard "Richie" Linton Jr. and Stephen Linton (Cindy); his siblings, Robert Linton (Linda), Ruby Goodman (Don) and Janet Medlyn; his brother-in-law Lafayette Yarbrough; and his nieces, Lorrie and Shellie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Golden Horizons Adult Day Center.
