He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell H. Van Gilder Sr. and Virginia Van Gilder Sr. (Berner); his in-laws, Percival and Cleda Holloway; his sister Janice; his siblings-in-law, Blake Moore, Nina Van Gilder, Kenneth Herrick and Gordon Marshall; and his brothers, Robert (Velda Holloway), Skip (Sue Smith) and Donald (Mary Holloway).
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Jean Holloway of Ypsilanti, Michigan.; his children, Russell Van Gilder III (Jerrie), Lisa Van Gilder (Bill Ogle) and Julie Tittl (John DeLong); his siblings, Jim Van Gilder (Jan), Paul Van Gilder, Betty Herrick, Mary Lenzi (David) and Pauline Carabelli (Hank); his grandchildren, Erica Sandusky (David), Tiffany King (Brian), Jaimie Keranen (Ben Staley), Russell Van Gilder IV (Allie), Michael Ogle (Samantha) and Lauren Heffner (Jacob); and his great grandchildren, Aubrie, Mikey, Adam, Raelle, Nathan, Sam, Andrew, Jacob, Bella, Aria, Russell V and Hailey.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Tyrone Hills Golf Club (8449 Old US 23, Fenton, MI 48430).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
