He was predeceased by : his parents, Herman L. Rycenga and Betty L. Rycenga (Nuland); and his brother-in-law Dave Tompkins. He is survived by : his mother-in-law Janet K. Hampton; his wife Janet Rycenga; his children, Tanya Rycenga and Todd Rycenga (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Aiden Rycenga, Adelynn Wells, Jeffrey Mills, Jackson Mills and Layla Mills; and his siblings, Susan Tompkins (Jeff Hinkle) and Lyle. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
