It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bernard John Schermer (Grandville, Michigan), born in Wright, Minnesota, who passed away on April 11, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, John Schermer and Tina Schermer (Cynthia); his parents-in-law, Francis and Marge Merryman (Marjorie); his brothers-in-law, Ralph VanMaanen and Burt Plaggerman; his brother Peter; his sister-in-law Ardys Schermer; his niece Cynthia Mallory; and his great-nephew Curtis VanMaanen.

He is survived by : his wife Shirley Schermer (Merryman); his daughters, Janet Waldmiller and Beth Ferguson (Kevin); his grandchildren, John Waldmiller, Rick Waldmiller, Jenni Schaeffer (Regan) and Joshua Ferguson; his great grandchildren, Lukas Waldmiller, Bennett and Graham Schaeffer; his siblings, Norma Plaggerman, Verna Mae VanMaanen, Harvey Schermer (Lois), Bruce Merryman (Dianne) and Sue Bos (Jerry); and his nephew Jeff Schermer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and caregivers.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Celebration Bible Church (4690 8th Ave, Grandville, MI 49418). Visitation was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
