She was predeceased by : her husband Alvin Spoelma; her son James Spoelma; her former life partner Claude Barhydt; her siblings, Lillian Toering and Melvin; and her sister-in-law Joanne Kooiker.
She is survived by : her husband John Kooienga; her children, Ed Spoelma (Jan), Kathy VanDyke (Dan) and Carol Weirsma; her stepchildren, Ric Kooienga (Sandy), Bonnie Hitts, Pam Waite (Ken), Pat Czuhai, Sharon Bogardus (Mike) and Doug Kooienga (Donna); her brother-in-law Arnold Toering; and her sister Evelyn Groelsma (Tom). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren.
In honor of Gladys, contributions may be made to Grandville Bible Church Missions.
