He was predeceased by : his parents, George Smart and Marie Smart (McKerrihan); his brothers, John Smart, George and Richard; and his nephew Tom Smart.

He is survived by : his brother Glenn Miller; his sisters-in-law, Jean Smart of St. Joseph, Muriel Smart of Hamilton and Gloria Smart; his nieces and nephews, Richie Smart of Muskogee, OK., Stefani Smart of Douglas, Scott Smart (Kathleen) of St. Joseph, Jane Klingenberg (Randy) of Hamilton and Janet Smart (Tom) of Jenison; and his children, Nora, Savannah, Dylan Smart, Mitchell, Sadie, Elliott, Kendal Klingenberg, Tommy, Kayla (Brayden) and Boyd Smart.
