He was predeceased by : his parents, Frank Fortine and Olive Fortine (Williams); his wife Ida Esch; and his sisters, Elsie Kuerth and Jean Alway.

He is survived by : his children, David Fortine (Terry) of Honor, Robert Fortine of Honor and Brenda Fortine (David Willey) of Maple City; and his grandchildren, Josh Fortine (Kristen) of Honor, Annabelle Fortine of Honor and Abigayle Fortine of Honor. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
