Marian A. Sutton Obituary
Marian A. Sutton, a Christian woman and a beacon of love and wisdom, passed away peacefully at her home in Hope, Michigan, on June 16, 2025. Born in August 1934, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Ned and Agnes (Huggard) Coppinger, Marian's life was a tapestry of dedication, fellowship, creativity, and service woven through the many roles she cherished.
Marian's journey began brightly, pursuing her passion for education. She earned a master's degree from Central Michigan University, showcasing her intelligence, dedication, and desire to teach. As a teacher in Bangor Township school district, she inspired many young minds at Lincoln and Central Schools. Her teaching excellence earned her multiple awards, highlighting her nurturing and guiding abilities.
Marian also had varied interests that enriched her life and brought joy to others. She was an avid bowler, finding camaraderie and friendly competition on the lanes. Her skillful hands created beautiful needlepoint pieces, and she was incredibly talented at crafting, often sharing her creations with loved ones and friends. Marian's delight in attending bingos was well-known, a pastime that allowed her to engage with her friends and community and continue her lifelong streak of playful enthusiasm.
Her affection extended to her beloved family, who were central to her life. She is survived by her children, Randy (Brenda) Sutton, Barbara Huckins, and Wendy (Pat) Priest; her grandchildren, Sonya (Katie), Melissa, Tasha (Earl), Chad (Megan), Eric, Katie, and Kari (Brandon); and her great-grandchildren, Britney (Zach), Derek, Katie, Emily, Blake, Lillyan, Violet, Wade, Max, Mackenzie, Aria, and her great-great-grandson Hayes. She also cherished Bri as a granddaughter and Bradley (Vicki) as a step-grandson with 6 great-step-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will also hold Marian's memory close. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Roy "Sonny" Coppinger and Eleanor Barney.
Marian's legacy is one of a God loving, intelligent, principled, and creative soul who enriched the lives of all who knew her. She would not compromise her Christian faith for anything or anyone. She believed that everyone sins and makes mistakes, but we all have the capacity to forgive because God forgives.
Marian A. Sutton's story may have reached its earthly conclusion, but her strong faith in God will allow her story of "To Be Continued" as she reunites with the ones she loves and awaits the arrival in heaven of the ones she leaves behind.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday June 28, 2025 at 12 pm from the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-GLADWIN with Pastor Charles Campbell presiding. Family members will be present at the funeral home on Saturday from 11am until the service starts at noon to greet friends and family. There will be a reception after the service at a nearby location (to be announced at the service) for all family and friends. Burial Service will be held the following Monday June 30, 2025 at 2:30 pm at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Kawkawlin.
