He was predeceased by : his parents, Henry Aittama and Hilma Aittama (Kesti); his siblings, Delores Goetz, Harry, Michael Aittama, Carol Houge and Gary; his parents-in-law, Bernie and Gloria Schmitt; and his brother-in-law Bernie, Jr..

He is survived by : his wife Sharon Schmitt of Hubbell; his children, Corey Aittama (Tracey) of Tallahassee, FL, Carrie Bartell (Dan) of Wallace, MI and Sarah Derry (Tom) of Redford, MI; his grandchildren, Kyle Bartell (Kelsey), Lauren Bartell (Ryan), Erik Aittama, Madelyn Aittama and Brooke Bartell; his siblings, Helen Chamberlain (Don), Sharon Davis (Allen) and Ron; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Schmitt and Alice Schmitt. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
