He was predeceased by: his parents, Nelson Smallegan and Betty Smallegan (Palmbos); his wife Arloa Smallegan (Meyer); his siblings, Carol Engelsman and Jim Smallegan; and his in-laws, Randy Berens, Marlene Menken, John, Pam Meyer and Chuck Devenport.

He is survived by: his close friend Lavonne Walters; his children, Ted Smallegan, Dave, Lori Smallegan, Mark and Melinda Smallegan; his great grandchildren, Kaleb Smallegan, Jennifer Teumer (Harper), Daniele Smallegan, Logan Estepp (Wyatt), Heather Smallegan, Kellie Smallegan, Colt Engelsman, John, Nicole Smallegan, Jacob, Jolyn Smallegan, Jace Smallegan and Jenna Smallegan; his sister Norma Berens; and his in-laws, Glenn Engelsman, Pat Smallegan, Randy Menken, Frank, Sara Meyer, Sharon, Ron Welch, Marcia, Ron Klein and Laura Devenport.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Holland or Forest Grove Reformed Church.
