He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Huotari and Edna Huotari (Elsila); his stepfather Tauno Reini; his daughter Melinda; and his siblings, William, Ronald, Robert, James, Dennis, Doris Toivonen and Judy Bettiga.

He is survived by: his sisters, Nancy Carlson (Stan), Anna Anderson (Larry) and Linda Skoviera (Andrew); and his niece Cathy Tankka. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews; and other loving relatives.
